Response to SPIEGEL article: Weleda focuses on transparency in addressing its Nazi past

As Weleda, we strongly condemn the atrocities of National Socialism. Fascism, antisemitism, racism, or far-right extremist ideologies have no place in our company. Weleda is a place of humanity. "Never again" is an expression of our stance.

We are deeply committed to transparently addressing our history. Accordingly, in 2023, we commissioned the 'Gesellschaft für Unternehmensgeschichte’ (Society for Corporate History) to conduct an expert report, which was published in 2024. The management of the herb garden at the Dachau concentration camp was part of this investigation. Furthermore, we have actively granted full access to our archives over several years to other renowned historians, including Prof. Dr. Peter Selg, Matthias Mochner, and Susanne H. Gross.

A recent article in “Der Spiegel”, referencing a new, yet-to-be-published book by historian Anne Sudrow, claims that certain aspects of our history might need to be shed new light on. We will, of course, analyze these claims once the book is published. We are committed to a thorough and complete examination of our history.

Today, Weleda operates in 50 countries around the world and stands for tolerance, diversity, and humanity.
